Value Home Office PC V2

Intel Core i5-14400 Home Office Desktop PC – Built in the UK

The Value Home Office PC V2 is a Core i5-14400 home office desktop PC for everyday work, video calls and multi-screen office setups.

Built to order in the UK, this Core i5-14400 home office desktop PC pairs a 10-core, 16-thread Intel processor with 16GB of DDR4 memory and a 500GB NVMe SSD in a compact mini tower case. It is aimed at people who work from home and want a dependable, responsive desktop for documents, spreadsheets, email, browser-based tools and video conferencing, without paying for hardware they will not use. Because it is configurable, you can change the parts in the configurator before you order, and the estimated lead time for your configuration is shown when you order.

The Value Home Office PC V2 is built on an Intel Core i5-14400 processor (10 cores, 16 threads, 2.5GHz base and up to 4.7GHz turbo) with Intel integrated graphics, 16GB of dual-channel DDR4 3200MHz memory and a 500GB M.2 PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD. It uses an MSI PRO H610M-E Micro-ATX motherboard, a Contour 400W ATX power supply and the Contour LP-2001 Black mini tower case, with Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 4.0 on a PCIe card. Microsoft Windows 11 Home is supplied genuine and pre-installed, and the system carries a 3-year parts and labour warranty.

Intel Core i5-14400 processor for everyday office work

The Intel Core i5-14400 has 10 cores and 16 threads, a 2.5GHz base clock and a maximum turbo clock of 4.7GHz, backed by 20MB of L3 cache. That gives a home office plenty of capacity to keep email, a browser full of tabs, office documents and a video call running together. The processor sits in an LGA1700 socket on an Intel H610 chipset board and is cooled by the standard Intel air cooler, so there is no liquid cooling or extra fan hardware to look after.

Memory and storage

The system is fitted with 16GB of DDR4 3200MHz memory as two 8GB modules running in dual channel. The board has two DIMM slots and supports up to 64GB, so a larger memory upgrade means replacing the modules, or choosing a bigger kit in the configurator when you order.

The operating system and your applications live on a 500GB M.2 NVMe SSD. The motherboard’s M.2 slot is PCIe 3.0 x4, so this PCIe 4.0 drive runs at PCIe 3.0 speeds and will not reach its rated 5000MB/s read and 3000MB/s write figures. It still gives the quick start-up and application loading of an NVMe drive. For more space later, the board has four SATA 6Gb/s ports and the case has mounts for one 3.5in and two 2.5in drives. No optical drive is fitted.

Integrated graphics and display outputs

Graphics come from the Intel integrated graphics built into the processor, so there is no separate graphics card to buy, power or cool. That suits office applications, web browsing and video calls. The PC is listed as supporting up to 3 monitors, and the motherboard video outputs are 1 x HDMI 1.4 and 1 x VGA. The board also has a PCIe 4.0 x16 slot and a PCIe 3.0 x1 slot for expansion.

Compact mini tower case and cooling

The Contour LP-2001 Black is a solid steel mini tower measuring 365mm deep, 170mm wide and 345mm high, so it fits on or under most desks. A single 80mm rear fan is pre-installed, and the system is air-cooled with the Intel standard CPU cooler. Power comes from a Contour 400W ATX power supply. The build is designed to be simple to maintain and to leave room to expand.

Connectivity and ports

The front panel has 2 x USB 3.0, 2 x USB 2.0, a headphone jack and a microphone jack. The rear has 2 x Type-A 5Gbps ports, 4 x Type-A USB 2.0 ports and a 1GbE RJ-45 Ethernet port (Realtek RTL8111H). Wireless is provided by a 1200Mbps 11ac dual band PCIe card, giving Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 4.0. Audio is High Definition Audio 7.1 (Realtek ALC897), so a headset, speakers or a webcam microphone connect without extra hardware. No keyboard or mouse is included, and the Keyboards & Mice and Webcams buttons below take you to suitable accessories.

What is the Value Home Office PC V2 best for?

The Value Home Office PC V2 is primarily a day-to-day productivity desktop for working from home. Its 10-core Intel Core i5-14400 processor, 16GB of memory and NVMe SSD keep office software responsive, and the integrated graphics mean there is no graphics card to add cost or complexity.

It is built for word processing, spreadsheets, email, cloud and browser-based business tools, video conferencing, online banking and general web browsing. Running several of these at once is where the 10 cores and 16 threads help most. Heavy 3D, rendering or video editing workloads call for a dedicated graphics card and a different specification.

Where does the Value Home Office PC V2 sit in the range?

A step down is the Compact Ryzen Workstation, which uses an AMD Ryzen 5 5600GT 6-core processor with the same 16GB of memory and 500GB SSD. A step up is the Punch SlimStation Core i5-14400 Compact Desktop PC, which shares this PC’s processor, memory and SSD. The Advanced Small Business Desktop also uses the i5-14400, with 8GB of memory and a 1TB SSD.
