What RDNA™ 4 actually changes

Four things worth understanding before you choose, because they’re the reason this generation punches above its price.

Designed for lightning-fast 1440p gaming

RDNA™ 4 rebuilds the compute unit around a single unified design, with ray tracing and AI acceleration built into the same block rather than bolted on beside it. In practice that means the effects that used to cost you half your frame rate now cost you far less.

  • Unified compute units: raster, ray tracing and AI work share the same silicon.
  • Dedicated ray accelerators: reflections and global illumination without the usual tax.
  • AMD HYPR-RX2: one click applies AMD’s full performance stack.

AI-enhanced visuals, not just AI marketing

FidelityFX™ Super Resolution 4 renders the frame at a lower resolution and reconstructs it with a machine-learning model. The headline is more frames. The real story is that FSR 4 finally holds up in motion, where earlier upscalers shimmered and smeared.

  • FSR 4 ML upscaling1: higher frame rates with noticeably cleaner detail in motion.
  • Next-gen ray tracing: lighting that behaves the way lighting should.
  • Enhanced Media Engine: sharper encodes for streaming and clip capture.

Performance made easy

All of the above is worthless if it lives three menus deep. AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition puts tuning, recording, streaming and per-game profiles in one overlay, and HYPR-RX turns the whole performance stack on with a single toggle if you’d rather not think about it.

  • One-click optimisation: higher frame rates and lower latency without a tuning guide.
  • Per-game profiles: settings that follow the title, not the machine.
  • Regular driver updates: day-one support for the games people actually play.

Future-ready, so the PC outlives the purchase

Up to 16GB of memory, PCIe® Gen 5 support and an updated display engine mean this generation isn’t the limiting factor when you upgrade your monitor (or add a second one) a couple of years from now.

  • Up to 16GB VRAM: headroom for high-resolution texture packs and creative work.
  • PCIe® Gen 5 support: on a platform with room for what comes next.
  • AMD Smart Access Memory™3: extra performance when paired with a Ryzen™ CPU.
  • DisplayPort™ 2.1a & HDMI® 2.1b: ready for high-refresh and high-resolution panels.

FAQ

8GB or 16GB: does the extra memory actually matter?
It matters later more than it matters today. Both cards run the same chip, so in most current games at 1440p the frame rates are close. The difference shows up when a game needs more video memory than the card has: high-resolution texture packs, heavy ray tracing, or ultra settings in the newest releases. At that point the 8GB card doesn’t just run a little slower, it stutters. If you plan to keep the machine three years or more, or you also edit and render, take the 16GB. If you play at 1080p or are happy nudging textures down a notch, the 8GB card is the better value.
What’s the difference between the RX 9060 and the RX 9060 XT?
Same RDNA™ 4 generation and the same feature set (ray tracing, FSR 4, Adrenalin), but the XT has more graphics hardware enabled and runs harder, so it delivers more frames. The plain 9060 is aimed squarely at 1080p; the XT is the one we’d put behind a 1440p monitor.
How much RAM do I need, and is it the same as the card’s memory?
They’re different things. System RAM holds the game and everything else you’re running; video memory (VRAM) on the graphics card holds textures and frame data. You need enough of both. For a new gaming build we fit dual-channel DDR5 sized so that the game, your browser, Discord and a capture tool can coexist without swapping to disk. Adding more RAM does not compensate for a card running out of VRAM, and vice versa.
Should I spend more on the CPU or the graphics card?
At 1440p, the graphics card, almost every time. The higher your resolution, the more of the work lands on the GPU, and a mid-range CPU will keep a card in this class fed comfortably. The CPU becomes worth spending on when you play competitively at low settings for maximum frame rate, when you’re streaming or recording while you play, or when you also do video editing, compiling or heavy multitasking. Tell us which of those is you and we’ll shift the budget accordingly.
How much storage do I need, and can I add more later?
Modern games routinely run 80–150GB each, so an NVMe SSD large enough for Windows plus the handful of titles you actually play is the practical floor. We leave spare M.2 slots and drive bays free in every build, and adding a drive later won’t affect your warranty. If you know you want a large bulk drive from day one, add it during customisation; it’s cheaper than doing it twice.
What software is installed, and do I need a Windows licence?
Every build ships with Windows installed, activated and updated, plus the current AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition driver package, and nothing else. No trialware, no toolbars, no "PC optimiser" you’ll uninstall on day one. Turn it on, sign in, and install your games.
Can I upgrade the graphics card later?
Yes. We spec the power supply and case with headroom rather than to the exact minimum, so a future card generally drops straight in. Upgrading components yourself doesn’t void your warranty, and if you’d rather we did it, send it back to the workshop and we’ll fit it for you.
What does the 3-year warranty actually cover?
Parts and labour for three years, included in the price rather than sold as an add-on. Support is UK-based and handled by the same team that builds the machines, so you’re talking to someone who can pull up your exact build sheet rather than reading from a script.
