The Core Ultra 7 270K Plus is part of Intel’s Core Ultra Series 2 refresh for desktop, built on TSMC’s N3B process. It combines eight Performance-cores with sixteen Efficient-cores for 24 cores and 24 threads, with a 3.7GHz P-core base clock and a maximum turbo of 5.5GHz. It is aimed at enthusiast gaming PCs, content creation systems and demanding multitaskers who want a high core count with Intel’s current platform features.

Performance

The P-cores reach up to 5.4GHz and the E-cores up to 4.7GHz, with Intel’s scheduling directing foreground work to the fast cores and background tasks to the efficient ones. A 36MB Intel Smart Cache and a large 40MB of total L2 cache keep data close to the cores. As a K-series part the multiplier is unlocked for overclocking on a Z-series board, and Intel AI Boost provides a neural processing unit for AI-accelerated software.

Platform and connectivity

The 270K Plus fits the LGA1851 socket and supports dual-channel DDR5 at up to 7200 MT/s, with a maximum of 256GB. It provides 24 PCIe lanes across PCIe 5.0 and 4.0 for a graphics card and Gen 5 NVMe storage. Integrated Intel Graphics with four Xe-cores can drive displays directly, useful for productivity systems or as a fallback. Punch can fit it in a new LGA1851 build with a suitable board and DDR5 memory.

Cooling and noise

Intel rates the processor at 125W base power and 250W maximum turbo power, with a 105°C maximum operating temperature and a PCG 2020A thermal solution specification. No cooler is included, so a high-performance air cooler or a 240mm or larger liquid cooler is recommended to sustain turbo clocks quietly.
