Gigabyte Z790 Aorus Elite AX DDR5 ATX Motherboard (Open Box, Heatsinks Missing)
An open-box Z790 ATX board for 12th to 14th Gen Intel Core processors with DDR5, PCIe 5.0 graphics, four M.2 slots and Wi-Fi 6E, supplied without its heatsinks.
This Z790 Aorus Elite AX is an open-box unit that comes without the heatsinks Gigabyte normally fits to the board. The board itself is a full-size ATX design for Intel LGA1700 processors, covering 14th, 13th and 12th Gen Core, Pentium Gold and Celeron chips, with a PCIe 5.0 graphics slot and a well-stocked rear panel. It suits a budget-conscious builder who already has suitable M.2 cooling or is happy to run drives bare, and who wants Z790 features such as memory overclocking and plenty of storage. Please check with us if you have a question about what is included before you order.
Processor and memory
Four DDR5 DIMM slots take up to 256GB (64GB per module) in dual channel. Gigabyte lists support for modules from 4000 and 4800MT/s up to 7600MT/s when overclocked, with XMP profiles for quick setup.
Expansion and storage
The main slot runs at PCIe 5.0 x16 and is backed by two further full-length slots running at PCIe 4.0 x4 from the chipset. Four M.2 slots are provided, all taking 22110 or 2280 drives: one from the processor at PCIe 4.0 x4 and three from the chipset at PCIe 4.0 x4, one of which also accepts SATA M.2 drives. Six SATA 6Gb/s ports cover hard drives and 2.5-inch SSDs.
Connectivity
The rear panel carries a USB Type-C port at USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 (20Gbps), two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A, three USB 3.2 Gen 1 and four USB 2.0 ports, along with HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 1.2 outputs for processors with integrated graphics, a Realtek 2.5GbE LAN port, optical S/PDIF out and two audio jacks. Wireless is Wi-Fi 6E on 2.4, 5 and 6GHz with Bluetooth 5.3 (Intel AX211 or Realtek RTL8852CE depending on PCB revision). Internal headers add a USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C front connector, two USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports and four USB 2.0 ports.
Ideal for
- Builders who already have M.2 heatsinks or run drives without them
- 12th to 14th Gen Intel gaming PCs with DDR5 memory
- Systems that need six SATA ports and four M.2 slots
