An open-box ROG Strix Z590 ATX board for 10th and 11th Gen Intel Core with PCIe 4.0, four M.2 slots, Wi-Fi 6E and 2.5Gb LAN.

The ROG Strix Z590-F Gaming WiFi was ASUS’s mainstream ROG board for the Intel LGA1200 platform, and this open-box unit is a good way to build or refresh a 10th or 11th Gen Core system. It brings PCIe 4.0 graphics and storage with an 11th Gen processor, a full complement of M.2 and SATA connections, and the SupremeFX audio and I/O that the Strix range is known for. Punch can fit this board in a new build or use it as a replacement in an existing LGA1200 PC.

Processor and memory

The LGA1200 socket takes 11th Gen Intel Core processors, which unlock PCIe 4.0 on the primary graphics slot and first M.2 slot, and 10th Gen Core processors, which run at PCIe 3.0. Memory is dual-channel DDR4, with ASUS listing speeds up to 5333MHz when overclocked and XMP support for easy setup.

Expansion and storage

Two full-length slots run from the processor (x16, or x8/x4 when both are used) at PCIe 4.0 with 11th Gen or PCIe 3.0 with 10th Gen, and a third full-length slot runs at PCIe 3.0 x4 from the chipset. Four M.2 slots are fitted: the first is PCIe 4.0 x4 with an 11th Gen processor only, the second is PCIe 4.0 or 3.0 x4 depending on the processor, the third is PCIe 3.0 x4, and the fourth accepts PCIe 3.0 x4 or SATA drives. Six SATA 6Gb/s ports are also available.

Connectivity and audio

On the rear panel there is a USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 Type-C port, three USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports (two Type-A and one Type-C), four USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A and two USB 2.0 ports, plus HDMI and DisplayPort outputs. Networking is Intel I225-V 2.5Gb Ethernet and Intel Wi-Fi 6E with Bluetooth 5.2. Audio is the SupremeFX ALC4080 codec with a Savitech SV3H712 amplifier, five gold-plated jacks and optical S/PDIF out. Internal headers include a USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C front connector, a USB 3.2 Gen 1 header and two USB 2.0 headers.
