Thermalright AM5 Secure Frame Black V2

A black aluminium frame that fits around an AMD AM5 socket to hold the processor firmly in place when a cooler is removed or refitted.

On AM5 boards the processor is retained by the socket’s own lever, but the CPU can still lift slightly when a cooler with tacky thermal paste is pulled away, and the bare edges of the socket are exposed while the cooler is off. The Thermalright Secure Frame sits over the socket’s retention bracket, adds a rigid aluminium alloy border around the chip and gives the cooler a clean, flat surface to bear on. It keeps the CPU seated squarely and tidies the look of the socket area at the same time.

Fitting

The frame installs with the supplied L-shaped screwdriver and uses the existing AM5 mounting points, so it does not interfere with the standard cooler backplate. Air coolers and all-in-one liquid coolers that support AM5 mount over it as normal.

Who it is for

It is a small, inexpensive addition for Ryzen 7000 and 9000 builds, especially where the cooler may be swapped later or the system will be transported. Punch Technology can fit one during a new build on request.
