A 240GB SATA SSD from PNY’s mainstream CS900 range, sold as an open-box unit at a reduced price.

The CS900 is PNY’s cost-effective replacement for a mechanical hard drive: a 2.5-inch, 7mm SATA III drive that fits any desktop or laptop drive bay and turns a slow boot and sluggish application loads into seconds. With no moving parts it runs silent, cool and draws far less power than a hard disk, which matters in a laptop or a compact PC. At 240GB it suits a Windows boot drive for an older machine, a second drive for programs and files, or a quick way to give a tired PC a new lease of life.

Performance

PNY rates the 240GB CS900 at up to 535MB/s sequential read and 500MB/s sequential write over SATA III at 6Gb/s, close to the practical limit of the SATA interface and several times faster than any hard drive. TRIM support (with a compatible operating system) and Native Command Queuing keep it responsive as it fills, and the drive is backwards compatible with SATA II ports on older boards.

Reliability

The drive uses 3D NAND flash with error correction of up to 120 bits per 2K sector, end-to-end data path protection and S.M.A.R.T. health monitoring, and PNY quotes a mean time between failures of 2,000,000 hours. Standard and Enhanced Secure Erase are supported, and it works with Windows, Linux and macOS without drivers.

This is an open-box unit: the retail packaging has been opened, and the drive has been checked by us before sale. It is otherwise as described and is covered by our standard warranty.
