Crucial P310 2TB PCIe Gen4 NVMe M.2 2280 SSD with Heatsink

Crucial P310 2TB PCIe Gen4 NVMe M.2 2280 SSD with Heatsink

A 2TB Gen4 NVMe drive with a factory-fitted heatsink, rated at up to 7,100MB/s and sized to fit the PlayStation 5 expansion slot.

The Crucial P310 is Micron’s mainstream PCIe Gen4 drive, and this version ships with a built-in heatsink on a standard M.2 2280 module. Crucial quotes up to 7,100MB/s sequential read and 6,000MB/s sequential write for this model, which puts it near the top of what a Gen4 x4 slot can deliver. It is a straightforward choice for a fast boot and games drive in a desktop, and because the heatsink is designed around the PS5 bay it also works as a console expansion drive.

Heatsink included

Sustained transfers push NVMe controllers hot, and a drive that throttles loses much of its advantage. The P310’s integrated heatsink spreads that heat so the drive keeps its speed through long installs and large project copies. Crucial states the heatsink version fits the PlayStation 5 and PS5 Pro without any extra parts, so there is no need to buy and fit a separate cooler.

Desktop use

In a PC the drive slots into any M.2 2280 socket wired for PCIe. On a Gen4 board you get the full rated speed; on a Gen3 board it still works, capped at Gen3 bandwidth. Check that your motherboard’s M.2 slot has clearance for a heatsinked drive, or let Punch Technology fit it for you in a new build.

Who it suits

2TB is a comfortable size for a system drive plus a large game library, or for a creator’s active projects. It is the sensible middle ground between a 1TB drive that fills quickly and a 4TB drive most people do not need. Crucial covers the P310 with a five-year limited warranty, or until the drive reaches its rated total bytes written, whichever comes first.

Ideal for

• PS5 and PS5 Pro storage expansion
• Gaming PCs on PCIe 4.0 platforms
• Builds where the M.2 slot has no motherboard heatsink
