AMD Ryzen 9 PRO 9945 AM5 Processor (OEM, No Cooler)
AMD’s top Ryzen 9 PRO desktop processor of the 9000 series, with 12 Zen 5 cores and a 5.4GHz boost, supplied as an OEM tray part for the AM5 platform.
The Ryzen 9 PRO 9945 sits at the head of AMD’s Ryzen PRO 9000 desktop range. The PRO line is AMD’s business-oriented version of its consumer processors and is aimed at commercial desktops and workstations where manageability, security features and long-term platform stability matter as much as raw performance. It uses the same AM5 socket as the consumer Ryzen 9000 series, so it goes into standard AM5 motherboards with DDR5 memory, which makes it straightforward for Punch to build into a business workstation or a well-specified office PC.
Cores and clocks
Twelve Zen 5 cores with simultaneous multithreading give 24 threads, running from a 3.4GHz base clock to a maximum boost of 5.4GHz with AMD Precision Boost 2. The cache layout is 960KB of L1, 12MB of L2 and 64MB of L3, and the default TDP is 65W, so it delivers Ryzen 9 multi-threaded performance within a power envelope that a mid-size tower cooler can handle quietly. In keeping with its business role the multiplier is not unlocked, and AMD EXPO memory overclocking, Precision Boost Overdrive and Curve Optimizer are not offered.
What the PRO line offers
Ryzen PRO processors are the parts AMD supplies for commercial systems from the major PC vendors. They carry AMD’s PRO feature set for fleet management and hardware-level security on top of the standard Ryzen architecture, which is why they are chosen for machines that will be deployed and managed across a business rather than used at home. For a small business or a professional user buying a single workstation, the practical benefit is a processor designed for sustained daily use with the support cycle that commercial customers expect.
Platform and memory
The CPU cores are made on TSMC’s 4nm process with a 6nm I/O die, and the processor fits socket AM5. It supports dual-channel DDR5 memory at up to DDR5-5600 with two modules and a maximum of 192GB, with ECC supported where the motherboard allows. It provides PCIe 5.0 with 28 lanes (24 usable), and a small two-core Radeon graphics unit running at 2200MHz is built in, enough to drive office displays without a graphics card. AMD lists support for the A620, B650, B650E, X670, X670E, B840, B850, X870 and X870E chipsets.
Packaging and cooling
This is an OEM tray processor rather than a retail box. It arrives as the bare chip with no cooler and no retail packaging, so a compatible AM5 CPU cooler must be specified with it. Tray processors are typically used by system builders, which is how Punch supplies them: fitted, tested and covered in a complete build. If you are buying it on its own for an upgrade, make sure you have an AM5 cooler and a motherboard BIOS that supports the Ryzen 9000 series.
Ideal for
- Business workstations and managed office fleets
- Professional users running demanding multi-threaded software
- System builders sourcing tray processors for AM5 builds
