AMD Ryzen 7 PRO 9745 AM5 Processor (OEM, No Cooler)
The eight-core Ryzen 7 tier of AMD’s PRO 9000 desktop range, supplied as an OEM tray processor for AM5 business builds.
The Ryzen 7 PRO 9745 is the mid-to-upper model in AMD’s Ryzen PRO 9000 desktop family. It is intended for commercial desktops and small workstations that need strong multi-threaded performance for office, engineering and creative software but do not need the very top of the range. Like the rest of the PRO line it uses the AM5 socket and DDR5 memory, so it drops into the same motherboards as the consumer Ryzen 9000 series and can be built by Punch into a business PC with the memory, storage and graphics to suit.
Cores and clocks
Eight Zen 5 cores with simultaneous multithreading give 16 threads, running from a 3.8GHz base clock to a maximum boost of 5.4GHz with AMD Precision Boost 2. The cache layout is 640KB of L1, 8MB of L2 and 32MB of L3, and the default TDP is 65W. As a PRO part the multiplier is not unlocked, and AMD EXPO memory overclocking, Precision Boost Overdrive and Curve Optimizer are not offered, which keeps the processor within its rated operating envelope.
What the PRO line offers
AMD’s PRO processors are the versions it supplies for commercial systems. They add AMD’s PRO manageability and security feature set to the standard Ryzen design, which is valuable for organisations that manage a fleet of machines, and they are backed by the longer availability that commercial buyers expect. For a professional buying one workstation, the everyday experience is that of a modern eight-core Ryzen desktop processor with the reassurance of a business-grade part.
Platform and memory
The CPU cores are made on TSMC’s 4nm process with a 6nm I/O die, and the processor fits socket AM5. It supports dual-channel DDR5 memory at up to DDR5-5600 with two modules and a maximum of 192GB, with ECC supported where the motherboard allows. It provides PCIe 5.0 with 28 lanes (24 usable), and a two-core Radeon graphics unit running at 2200MHz is built in for office displays without a graphics card. AMD lists support for the A620, B650, B650E, X670, X670E, B840, B850, X870 and X870E chipsets.
Packaging and cooling
This is a tray (OEM) processor. It is supplied as the bare chip without a cooler or retail box, so an AM5-compatible cooler must be chosen with it. Tray parts are the normal way system builders buy processors, and Punch fits and tests them as part of a complete build. For a self-install, check that the motherboard has a BIOS version that supports the Ryzen 9000 series before fitting.
