AMD Ryzen 5 9500F 6 Core AM5 Processor (OEM, No Cooler)
The most affordable route to a Zen 5 gaming PC: six cores, 5.0GHz boost and no integrated graphics you would not use anyway.
The Ryzen 5 9500F is a six-core, twelve-thread processor from AMD’s Ryzen 9000 desktop family. The F suffix means it has no integrated graphics, which suits a gaming build that will always have a discrete graphics card and keeps the cost down. It uses the AM5 socket and DDR5 memory, so it fits the same motherboards as the rest of the Ryzen 7000 and 9000 series and leaves room for a bigger processor later. This is the OEM tray version, supplied without a cooler.
Cores and clocks
Six Zen 5 cores with simultaneous multithreading run from a 3.8GHz base to a 5.0GHz maximum boost. The cache layout is 480KB of L1, 6MB of L2 and 32MB of L3. The processor is unlocked and supports AMD EXPO memory profiles, Precision Boost Overdrive and Curve Optimizer voltage offsets, so there is scope for tuning on a B650, B850 or X-series board.
Platform
The CPU cores are made on TSMC’s 4nm process with a 6nm I/O die, and the processor fits socket AM5. It supports dual-channel DDR5 memory at up to DDR5-5600 with two modules and a maximum of 256GB, and it provides PCIe 5.0 with 28 lanes (24 usable) for the graphics card and NVMe storage. AMD lists support for the A620, B650, B650E, X670, X670E, B840, B850, X870 and X870E chipsets. Because there is no integrated GPU, a graphics card must be fitted for any display output, so this is a part for a dedicated gaming or workstation build rather than an office PC.
Power and cooling
With a 65W default TDP a modest tower air cooler keeps it quiet. As a tray part there is no cooler in the box. Punch can fit it in a new AM5 build with a suitable cooler and DDR5 memory.
