be quiet! Pure Rock 2 150W Silent CPU Cooler
A quiet, light single-tower cooler with enough capacity for mainstream and upper mid-range processors at stock settings.
The be quiet! Pure Rock 2 is the German brand’s best-selling essential-class air cooler. It combines four 6mm heat pipes, an aluminium fin stack and a 120mm Pure Wings 2 PWM fan into a cooler that keeps noise very low while handling processors with a thermal design power of up to 150W. It is the cooler Punch specifies for a large share of its everyday desktops, gaming PCs and small workstations, because it cools well, stays quiet and does not put excess strain on the motherboard during transit.
Performance
With 150W of rated cooling capacity the Pure Rock 2 will keep processors such as a Core i5, Core i7 or Ryzen 7 at sensible temperatures without the fan having to work hard. be quiet! uses HDT (heat pipe direct touch) for the four 6mm heat pipes, which sit in direct contact with the processor for efficient heat transfer into the fin stack.
Cooling and noise
The Pure Wings 2 120mm fan uses a rifle bearing and airflow-optimised blades, and be quiet! rates the cooler at 19.1 dB(A) at 50% fan speed, 22.1 dB(A) at 75% and 26.8 dB(A) at full speed. In practice the cooler is close to inaudible at idle and only becomes noticeable under sustained full load.
Compatibility
The fin stack is asymmetrical, so the cooler leans away from the memory slots and does not block tall RAM modules on most motherboards. At 155mm tall it fits the great majority of mid-tower cases, and at around 575g it is light enough for Punch to ship it fitted without the risk that heavier 1kg-plus coolers pose to the motherboard. The mounting kit covers Intel LGA115x, LGA2011-3 and LGA2066 alongside AMD AM3+ and AM4, and includes thermal paste.
Build quality
The brushed aluminium top cover gives the silver Pure Rock 2 a clean, understated finish that suits builds without lighting. Punch can fit it in any new build with a compatible socket.
