A six-core Zen 5 processor from AMD’s business-focused PRO line, supplied as an OEM tray part for AM5 desktops.

The Ryzen 5 PRO 9645 is the entry point to AMD’s Ryzen PRO 9000 desktop range. It pairs the current Zen 5 core with AMD’s PRO feature set for commercial desktops, giving a six-core, twelve-thread processor that is well suited to office workstations, small business PCs and managed fleets. It uses the standard AM5 socket with DDR5 memory and works with the full range of AM5 chipsets, so Punch can build it into a business PC using mainstream motherboards.

Cores and clocks

Six cores and twelve threads run from a 3.9GHz base clock to a maximum boost of 5.4GHz using AMD’s Precision Boost 2. The cache layout is 480KB of L1, 6MB of L2 and 32MB of L3. In keeping with its business role, the multiplier is not unlocked and AMD EXPO memory overclocking and Precision Boost Overdrive are not offered, which keeps the processor within its rated operating envelope.

Platform

The processor is built on TSMC’s 4nm process for the CPU cores with a 6nm I/O die, and it fits socket AM5. It supports dual-channel DDR5 memory at up to DDR5-5600 with two modules and a maximum of 192GB, with ECC supported where the motherboard allows, and it provides PCIe 5.0 with 28 lanes (24 usable). A two-core Radeon graphics unit running at 2200MHz is built in, so an office PC can run without a separate graphics card. AMD lists support for the A620, B650, B650E, X670, X670E, B840, B850, X870 and X870E chipsets, so it can be paired with anything from an affordable office board to a full-featured workstation board.

Power and cooling

With a 65W default TDP it is easy to keep cool and quiet. It is supplied as a tray processor with no cooler included, so an AM5-compatible cooler must be chosen with it.
