AMD Ryzen 7 8700F 4.1GHz 8 Core CPU – 5.0GHz Turbo

The Ryzen 7 8700F is a member of AMD’s Ryzen 8000 series, built on the Phoenix design with Zen 4 cores on TSMC’s 4nm process. It runs at a 4.1GHz base clock and boosts to 5.0GHz across eight cores and sixteen threads, which makes it a strong option for gaming PCs, streaming rigs and general multitasking on the AM5 platform. As an F-series part it has no integrated graphics, so it is intended for systems that will always run a dedicated graphics card.
Performance
High base and boost clocks keep single-threaded work snappy, and sixteen threads give real headroom for encoding, compiling and running several demanding applications at once. The chip carries 8MB of L2 and 16MB of L3 cache, and includes an AI engine rated at up to 16 TOPS for software that can take advantage of it. It is unlocked for overclocking, supports AMD EXPO memory profiles, Precision Boost Overdrive and Curve Optimizer, and can be run in a configurable 45W to 65W TDP range.
Platform and connectivity
The 8700F fits the AM5 socket and AMD lists the A620, B650, B650E, X670, X670E, B840, B850, X870 and X870E chipsets as supported. Memory is dual-channel DDR5 at up to 5200 MT/s with a maximum of 256GB. Note that, unlike the Ryzen 7000 desktop parts, it provides PCIe 4.0 rather than 5.0, with 20 lanes in total (16 usable), plus two native USB4 ports. Punch can fit it in a new AM5 build with a graphics card and DDR5 memory to suit.
Cooling and noise
With a 65W default TDP and a 95°C maximum operating temperature, the 8700F is easy to cool. This multipack version is supplied with AMD’s Wraith Stealth cooler, which is adequate for stock operation; a tower cooler will run quieter under sustained load.
