Founders of CMS Computers Ian Fraser and Sion Roberts have announced the launch of new venture, Punch Technology, a bespoke, performance system integrator, designed to push the boundaries in the custom PC market.

Renowned for founding CMS Computers in 1993, the duo began their careers whilst at Liverpool University studying Computer and Microprocessor Systems. Starting out as a component distributor, CMS then launched the system integrator brand Zoostorm in 2005, which they sold through Littlewoods and other mail order companies.

Over the next eight years Fraser and Roberts were responsible for the growth of the Zoostorm brand, which held more than 20% of the UK retail desktop market, and became the largest local system integrator by PC volume. CMS was then sold to the VIP Group in November 2011.

Commenting on the launch of Punch Technology, Technical Director Sion Roberts said; “We are creating an optimised bespoke product to sell directly to the consumer and as well as doing the recognisable optimisations such as overclocking, we are looking to bring crowdfunded projects to market that really break new ground. Punch Technology’s brand proposition is all about pushing the boundaries and this is reflected in every bespoke product that we design.”

Managing Director of Punch Technology, Ian Fraser adds; “We’re proud of our achievements at Zoostorm and launching Punch Technology was a natural progression for us in the evolving PC industry. We’re delighted to be announcing our new venture and wish the Zoostorm team every success in the future.”

Fraser and Roberts are joined at Punch Technology by ex CMS Managers David Quick appointed as Commercial Director and Dave Ayling as Operations Director.

Punch Technology is currently in Beta phase, trading online through its own website and marketplaces. The website will launch to the consumer market next month.
