Noctua’s 14mm-thick 92mm fan in all-black, with swappable coloured anti-vibration pads and a 6-year warranty.

The NF-A9x14 is the fan Noctua fits to its low-profile NH-L9 coolers, and on its own it is the answer for any spot where a normal 25mm fan will not fit: small form factor cases, slim CPU coolers, HTPC chassis and 92mm rear exhaust positions in compact towers. The HS-PWM (high speed) version runs to 2500 RPM and moves 57.5 m3/h with 2.11 mmH2O of static pressure, figures that let it work through a heatsink rather than only as an open-air case fan, while its 23.6 dB(A) rating keeps it civilised. Under PWM control it idles down to 600 RPM.

This edition replaces Noctua’s brown-and-beige colours with an all-black frame and impeller. The ‘swap’ part is a set of self-adhesive NA-AVP8 anti-vibration corner pads in black, blue, green, red, white and yellow, eight of each, so the fan corners can be matched to a build’s colour scheme without paint or third-party parts. A 30cm NA-EC1 extension cable and four fan screws are also included.

Build quality

The SSO2 bearing is Noctua’s second-generation self-stabilising oil-pressure design, rated at over 150,000 hours MTTF, and the fan carries Noctua’s six-year warranty. Mounting hole spacing is the standard 82.5mm for 92mm fans. Punch can fit this fan in a compact new build where a standard-thickness fan would not clear the components.
