Arctic Alpine 23 CO Compact AMD CPU Cooler
A compact AMD cooler with a dual ball bearing fan built for 24/7 operation on AM5 and AM4 systems.
The ARCTIC Alpine 23 CO is the continuous-operation version of the Alpine 23. It shares the same 65 mm tall radial aluminium heatsink and 90mm fan, but swaps the fluid dynamic bearing for a dual ball bearing that tolerates the heat and constant running of an always-on machine. That makes it a good fit for home servers, NAS boxes, digital signage and office PCs that are never switched off, as well as ordinary desktops where a quiet, low-cost replacement for the AMD stock cooler is wanted.
Cooling and noise
The heatsink uses ARCTIC’s extruded design with 50 thin Y-shaped fins around a 32 mm core, which gives more surface area than a plain radial sink. The fan is PWM controlled from 200 to 2700 rpm, so it can run slowly and quietly at idle and only reach its quoted 0.3 Sone at full speed. Current draw is 0.09 A at 12 V. MX-4 thermal paste is applied at the factory.
Compatibility
ARCTIC’s current specification lists AMD AM5 and AM4; the cooler clips onto the standard AMD retention frame, so it is a straightforward swap. At 121 x 98.6 x 65 mm and 275.5 g it fits most small form factor cases and clears the memory slots on the majority of boards. It is not an Intel cooler.
Build quality
The dual ball bearing is the main reason to choose the CO over the standard Alpine 23 for a system that runs around the clock. ARCTIC provides a six-year limited warranty. Punch can fit it in a new AMD build where a compact, dependable cooler is required.
