A high-performance professional workstation designed for V-Ray rendering and Autodesk 3ds Max workflows.
This Professional V-Ray / 3ds Max Workstation is engineered for architects, visualisation studios, and professional artists who require fast, reliable rendering performance for production environments. Built around AMD’s Ryzen 9 9950X processor and the NVIDIA RTX 5080 GPU, this system delivers excellent interactive responsiveness alongside powerful CPU and GPU rendering capability.
Built and tested in the UK by Punch Technology, every system comes with a 3-year parts and labour warranty and quick delivery to UK mainland addresses, backed by over 30 years of workstation building experience and our status as an AMD Elite System Builder.
The dual high-speed NVMe storage configuration provides fast application launch, rapid project loading, and responsive caching for large scenes, textures, and simulation data. Splitting operating system and project data across separate NVMe drives helps maintain performance consistency when working on complex or multi-layered scenes.
At the heart of the system, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 provides strong CUDA and OptiX acceleration for V-Ray GPU workflows, delivering fast preview renders, efficient denoising, and excellent viewport performance in 3ds Max. This makes it an ideal solution for artists combining CPU-based and GPU-based rendering techniques.
The Fractal Design Epoch XL chassis has been selected for its understated professional design, high-quality construction, and optimised airflow. Combined with a be quiet! Silent Loop 3 360mm liquid CPU cooler, the system remains quiet and thermally stable even during extended rendering sessions, making it well suited to studio environments.
Comprehensive connectivity is provided via a modern X870E motherboard with multiple high-speed USB ports, integrated Wi‑Fi 7, Bluetooth, and 2.5GbE wired networking, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of peripherals, external storage devices, and studio networks.
This system is best suited to professionals seeking a balanced, high-performance V-Ray and 3ds Max workstation, offering excellent value without the complexity or cost of HEDT platforms.
Ideal for:
- V-Ray CPU and GPU rendering
- Architectural and interior visualisation
- Product and industrial rendering
- Professional 3ds Max workflows
- Freelancers and studios requiring reliable daily performance

FAQ
Is this system suitable for both CPU and GPU rendering in V-Ray?
Yes. The Ryzen 9 9950X delivers strong multi-threaded CPU rendering performance across all 16 cores, while the RTX 5080 accelerates V-Ray GPU workflows using CUDA and OptiX. This makes the system well suited to artists who switch between CPU and GPU rendering depending on scene complexity or deadline requirements.
Is 96GB of RAM enough for professional 3ds Max projects?
For the vast majority of architectural visualisation, product rendering and professional 3ds Max workflows, 96GB of DDR5 is more than sufficient. Very large scenes with extensive displacement, simulation data or heavy proxy caching may benefit from additional RAM — the platform supports up to 256GB should your requirements grow.
Would a Threadripper system be faster?
For pure CPU rendering across many simultaneous cores, a Threadripper Pro system with 32 or more cores will outperform this configuration. However, for most professional visualisation studios and freelancers, the Ryzen 9 9950X offers an excellent balance of CPU rendering performance, GPU responsiveness and overall system cost. If you regularly run overnight CPU render farms, our Threadripper Pro range may be worth considering.
Is this system quiet enough for studio use?
Yes. The be quiet! Silent Loop 3 360mm AIO cooler and the Fractal Design Epoch XL chassis have both been selected with noise levels in mind. Under typical workstation use and moderate rendering loads the system operates quietly. During sustained heavy CPU rendering sessions fan speeds will increase, but the thermal headroom of the 360mm radiator keeps noise well within acceptable studio levels.
What does the warranty cover?
This system is covered by a 3-year parts and labour Return to Base (RTB) warranty. In the event of a component failure, you return the system to Punch Technology and we repair or replace the faulty parts and return it to you at no additional cost. Our team is also available for ongoing technical support throughout the warranty period.
Can this workstation be upgraded?
Yes. The X870E platform supports up to 256GB of DDR5 RAM, and two free M.2 slots and four SATA ports are available for additional storage. Two free PCIe slots allow for future expansion with capture cards, additional networking, or a GPU upgrade. Contact our team to discuss configuration options.
