Arctic Alpine 12 LP Low Profile Intel CPU Cooler
A very low profile push-pin cooler for Intel LGA1200 and LGA115x processors up to 75 W, with a quiet 92mm PWM fan.
The ARCTIC Alpine 12 LP is a compact radial heatsink built for HTPC, Mini-ITX and slimline office cases where even a standard stock cooler is too tall. The extruded aluminium heatsink fans its thin fins out in a Y-shape to increase surface area, and a 92mm fan sits on top blowing down through it. ARCTIC recommends it for processors with a TDP of up to 75 W, which covers the Core i3, i5 and non-K i7 parts used on these sockets, and it is a sensible replacement for a failed or noisy Intel stock cooler.
Cooling and noise
The fan is PWM controlled across an unusually wide 100 to 2700 rpm range, so at idle it can turn very slowly and almost silently, while still having speed in reserve for sustained loads. ARCTIC quotes a noise level of 0.3 Sone at maximum speed. The fluid dynamic bearing and low-temperature motor are designed for a long service life, and the whole cooler draws just 0.06 A at 12 V.
Compatibility
The installation height is 42.2 mm above the motherboard, with an overall height of 53.3 mm and a 95 x 95 mm footprint. Mounting is by tool-free push pins into the standard Intel hole pattern for LGA1200, LGA1151, LGA1150, LGA1155 and LGA1156. It does not fit LGA1700 or LGA1851 boards or any AMD socket. MX-2 thermal paste is pre-applied.
Build quality
The heatsink is aluminium and the assembly weighs 182 g, so it puts very little load on the board. ARCTIC backs it with a six-year limited warranty. Punch can fit it in a compact new build or supply it as a replacement.
