A Gigabyte upgrade kit that fits Intel Wireless-AC 9560 Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5 into a Gigabyte board’s spare CNVi M.2 slot.
Many Gigabyte Intel motherboards are sold in a non-wireless version but keep the M.2 Key-E slot and antenna cut-outs used by their Wi-Fi siblings. The GC-CI22M_A kit takes advantage of that: it supplies an Intel Wireless-AC 9560 CNVi module, the mounting hardware and an external antenna so the board gains the same dual-band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5 it would have had from the factory, without using a PCIe slot at all.
Performance
The 9560 is a 2×2 802.11ac Wave 2 module with 160MHz channel support, giving a theoretical 1.73Gbps on 5GHz with a compatible router and up to 867Mbps on the more common 80MHz networks. It supports MU-MIMO for better performance when several devices share the router. Because CNVi moves part of the wireless controller into the chipset, the module itself is compact and efficient, with Intel’s usual mature driver support on Windows 10 and 11.
Compatibility
This kit only works in Gigabyte motherboards designed for Intel CNVi wireless upgrades; it is not a general-purpose M.2 Wi-Fi card and will not function in a board without CNVi support. The module fits an M.2 Socket 1, type 2230 slot, and Bluetooth 5 is carried over the same connection. Punch checks that the selected board supports the kit before it is added to a build and fits the antenna to the rear panel. An equivalent module of the same standard and speed may be substituted if supply requires.
