The Cooler Master MWE Gold 1250 V2 ATX 3.1 is the largest unit in the MWE Gold V2 range. It is built for systems with a flagship graphics card and a high-core-count processor, where transient power spikes and a large number of drives and fans push a 1000W unit close to its limit. It suits enthusiast gaming PCs, content-creation workstations and builds intended to take a future graphics card upgrade without changing the power supply.
Power delivery
The unit is compliant with the ATX 3.1 standard, which means it is designed to handle the short, high power excursions of current NVIDIA graphics cards, and it carries 80 PLUS Gold certification with 90% or better efficiency at typical load. Cooler Master rates it for continuous operation at up to 50°C ambient, a higher rating than many consumer units, and quotes an MTBF above 100,000 hours. Protection covers over-voltage, over-power, short-circuit, over-current, under-voltage, over-temperature and inrush current.
Connectivity
A single native 12V-2×6 connector powers current graphics cards without an adapter, and three 6+2 pin PCIe connectors cover older cards or a second card. Two CPU connectors (one 4+4 pin and one 8-pin) suit high-end desktop boards that ask for dual EPS power, while twelve SATA and four peripheral connectors handle even large storage arrays. All cables are flat, black and fully modular, so cable routing behind the motherboard tray is straightforward.
Cooling and noise
A 140mm fan with a two ball bearing design moves plenty of air at low speed, keeping the unit quiet under typical gaming loads while providing the longevity a ball bearing offers at higher temperatures.
