600Mbps 11ac Dual Band USB Wi-Fi 5
A nano USB adapter that adds dual-band Wi-Fi 5 to a PC without opening the case.
The simplest way to get a desktop onto Wi-Fi is a USB adapter, and this Jedel AC600 unit is about as small as they come. It plugs into a spare rear USB port, sits almost flush with the back panel and provides 802.11ac connectivity on both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands. It needs no PCIe slot or motherboard header, which makes it the fallback option for compact builds where a card will not fit.
Performance
The adapter is rated AC600: up to 433Mbps on 5GHz and 150Mbps on 2.4GHz. That is enough for browsing, streaming and video calls on a typical broadband connection. The trade-off for the tiny size is the antenna: it is built into the body, so range is shorter than a PCIe card with external antennas. We recommend keeping the PC within around 7 metres of the router, ideally with a clear line of sight, and choosing one of our PCIe cards if the PC is further away or the broadband connection is fast.
Compatibility
Bluetooth is not included. The adapter works with any 802.11a/b/g/n/ac router and is supported on Windows. Because nano adapters of this class are sourced from several suppliers, the listing is described by standard and speed rather than model and an equivalent AC600 adapter may be supplied; Punch installs the driver and tests the connection before the PC is dispatched.
