Gigabyte B650I AX AM5 Mini-ITX DDR5 Wi-Fi 6E Motherboard
A compact AM5 board that brings DDR5, PCIe 4.0, 2.5Gb Ethernet and Wi-Fi 6E to a small-form-factor build.
The Gigabyte B650I AX is a Mini-ITX motherboard for AMD Ryzen 7000, 8000 and 9000 Series processors on the AM5 socket. At 17cm square it is built for small cases where a full-size board will not fit, yet it keeps the connectivity most people need from a modern desktop: two DDR5 slots, a full-length PCIe 4.0 x16 slot for a graphics card, M.2 NVMe storage and wired and wireless networking on the board itself. It suits anyone building a small gaming or general-purpose PC on the AMD platform who does not want to give up current-generation features to get there.
Processor and memory
The B650 chipset supports the whole AM5 range to date, from the Ryzen 7000 Series through the 9000 Series. The two DDR5 DIMM sockets accept up to 128GB in total, with 64GB modules supported, and Gigabyte lists memory speeds up to 6400MT/s with overclocked kits. Using two matched modules keeps the memory in dual-channel mode.
Expansion and storage
The single PCIe 4.0 x16 slot is wired to the CPU and runs at the full x16 width with Ryzen 7000 and 9000 Series processors (x8 with Ryzen 8000 Phoenix 1 chips and x4 with Phoenix 2). Storage goes on a single M.2 2280 slot with PCIe 4.0 x4 support for NVMe drives, backed by two SATA 6Gb/s ports for hard drives or 2.5-inch SSDs.
Connectivity
Networking is covered twice over: a Realtek 2.5GbE wired port and a Realtek RTL8852CE wireless module supporting Wi-Fi 6E on the 2.4GHz, 5GHz and 6GHz bands with Bluetooth 5.3. The rear panel carries DisplayPort and HDMI outputs for processors with integrated graphics, a USB Type-C port (USB 3.2 Gen 1), a red USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A port, a USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A port, three USB 2.0 ports and three audio jacks driven by a Realtek HD audio codec. Internally there are a USB Type-C (USB 3.2 Gen 1) header, a USB 3.2 Gen 1 header for two ports and a USB 2.0 header for two more, plus three fan headers and addressable and standard RGB headers. A Q-Flash Plus button lets the BIOS be updated from a USB stick without a processor or memory installed, which is useful when fitting a newer Ryzen chip to an older board. Punch can fit this board as part of a new small-form-factor build.
Ideal for
- Mini-ITX gaming PCs on the AMD AM5 platform
- Compact home-office or living-room PCs that need built-in Wi-Fi
- Small builds that still want PCIe 4.0 graphics and NVMe storage
