Arctic Alpine 23 Compact AMD CPU Cooler (Open Box)

A compact, simple heatsink-and-fan cooler for AMD AM4 and AM5 processors, supplied as an open-box unit that has been checked and repackaged.

The Alpine 23 is Arctic’s small top-down cooler for AMD desktop processors. A single 90mm fan sits over a radial aluminium heatsink of 50 Y-shaped fins and blows straight down onto the socket, which also passes air over the motherboard’s power circuitry. The cooler is 65mm tall, 98.6 x 121mm across and weighs 275.5g, and Arctic’s MX-4 thermal paste comes pre-applied. It fits AM4 and AM5 because both sockets share identical mounting dimensions, clips straight into the standard AMD retention module, and is an easy fit in slim and micro-ATX cases where a tower cooler will not go.

Motor and bearing

The PWM-controlled motor runs from 100 to 2000 RPM, so the fan can idle slowly and quietly, and Arctic quotes a noise level of 0.3 Sone. Arctic says its commutation produces around five percent of the vibration of a regular DC motor. The fan runs on a fluid dynamic bearing using a German-developed alloy and lubricant, which Arctic credits for a service life four times longer through lower coil temperatures.

Condition and use

This is an open-box unit that has been opened and repackaged but is complete; Arctic backs the Alpine 23 with a six-year warranty. It is intended for lower-power Ryzen 3 and Ryzen 5 processors in office, media and general-purpose PCs rather than for gaming chips under sustained load. Punch Technology can fit it in a new AMD build on request.
