An 8-litre black micro-ATX desktop chassis with a 250W 80+ Bronze power supply already built in, for space-saving office and home PCs.

The Avance L8B is the current revision of Punch’s Avance L8, an exceptionally small chassis measuring just 310 x 97 x 280mm (8 litres) yet still taking a standard mATX motherboard up to 244 x 244mm. It can be stood horizontally like a set-top box or vertically on its supplied feet, and an optional monitor-stand mount lets it disappear behind a screen altogether. A Flex ATX 250W 80+ Bronze power supply comes fitted, so there is no separate unit to choose and no question of whether it will fit.

Built for compact systems

The 250W supply is well matched to a processor with integrated graphics and solid-state storage; it is not intended for a power-hungry graphics card. Four expansion slots take low-profile cards only, so any add-in card must be a half-height model. There is room for one 3.5in drive, one 2.5in drive and one slim optical drive, which covers a hard disk alongside an SSD for the system. Punch can build a complete system in this case and configure it for your office.

Everyday use

Two USB 3.0 ports on the front panel give quick access for memory sticks and external drives, with the rest of the connectivity coming from the motherboard’s rear panel. The screwless design makes it quick to open for servicing, a Kensington lock loop lets it be secured to a desk in shared spaces, and a cable cover keeps the rear tidy. No case fans are fitted and there is no room for a radiator, so cooling comes from the CPU cooler and the power supply fan.
