Intel Laminar RH1 CPU Cooler

Intel’s top boxed cooler for 12th, 13th and 14th Gen Core processors, with a copper heat column, a PWM fan and ARGB lighting.

The Laminar RH1 is the largest of Intel’s Laminar series of boxed coolers. It is the cooler Intel supplies with its 65W Core i9 desktop processors (the i9-12900, 12900F, 13900, 13900F, 14900 and 14900F), and it is a step up from the smaller RM1 and RS1 in both cooling capacity and appearance. Punch offers it as a low-cost cooling option on non-overclocked Intel builds where a full tower cooler is not needed.

Cooling performance

Intel rates the RH1 for processors with up to 65W base power. It uses aluminium fins around a copper heat column base to move heat away from the processor, and a PWM-controlled variable speed fan that runs between 1000 and 3000 RPM so it can stay slow and quiet at idle and only speed up under sustained load. Intel quotes sound power of 2.6 BA in standard operation and 4.5 BA at maximum fan speed.

Lighting and build

An ARGB LED light ring around the fan and a white LED Intel logo give the RH1 a more finished look than a plain stock cooler, and the lighting can be tied into a motherboard’s addressable RGB control. The cooler stands up to 69mm tall from the base of the heatsink to the top of the fan, with a footprint of up to 103mm x 103mm and a mass of up to 450g, so it fits in small form factor and low-profile cases where tower coolers will not.

Compatibility

The RH1 mounts on the LGA1700 socket with push-pin fittings and no backplate. It is intended for processors at or below 65W base power; higher-power K-series processors or heavy sustained all-core workloads are better served by a tower air cooler or a liquid cooler. Intel covers the cooler with a three-year limited warranty and specifies an operating temperature range of 0 to 70°C.
