Gigabyte Z790 Eagle AX DDR5 ATX Motherboard
An accessible Z790 ATX board with a PCIe 5.0 graphics slot, three PCIe 4.0 M.2 slots, five expansion slots and Wi-Fi 6E for overclockable Intel processors.
The Gigabyte Z790 Eagle AX brings the Z790 chipset’s unlocked overclocking and full lane count to a mainstream board. It supports 12th, 13th and 14th Gen Intel Core, Pentium Gold and Celeron processors, with four DDR5 slots holding up to 256GB at up to 7600 MT/s when paired with a 13th or 14th Gen Core i7 or i9 and XMP memory. Twin 8-pin CPU power connectors and a heatsinked VRM handle K-series chips comfortably. Punch can fit it in a new build with matching memory and cooling.
Storage and expansion
Three M.2 slots, one from the processor and two from the chipset, all run at PCIe 4.0 x4; the third also accepts SATA M.2 drives. Four SATA 6Gb/s ports support RAID 0, 1, 5 and 10. Expansion is generous for the class: a reinforced PCIe 5.0 x16 graphics slot, a PCIe 4.0 x16-length slot at x4, a PCIe 3.0 x16-length slot at x1 and two PCIe 3.0 x1 slots, plus two Thunderbolt add-in card headers.
Connectivity
The rear panel provides a USB Type-C port at USB 3.2 Gen 2, a red USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A port, four USB 3.2 Gen 1 and two USB 2.0 ports, a PS/2 port, HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 1.2, a Realtek 2.5Gb Ethernet port, two SMA antenna connectors and three audio jacks with S/PDIF support. Wi-Fi 6E with Bluetooth 5.3 is fitted (Intel AX211 or Realtek RTL8852CE by PCB revision, 1T1R). Front-panel headers add a USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C, two Gen 1 and four USB 2.0 ports.
Cooling and control
Six fan and pump headers with water-flow detection, two addressable LED headers, on-board reset and Q-Flash Plus buttons and a TPM header cover most gaming and creator builds without fuss.
