300Mbps 11n 2.4GHz Single Band PCIe Wi-Fi 4 Adapter
An entry-level 802.11n PCIe card that gets a desktop online at low cost.
Not every PC needs the fastest wireless available. For a machine that is used for email, browsing and catch-up TV on a modest broadband connection, this single-band Wi-Fi 4 card does the job for very little money. It fits a PCIe x1 slot, brings two external antennas for better reception than a nano USB dongle, and connects to any 2.4GHz network at up to 300Mbps.
Performance
The card operates on the 2.4GHz band only. That band has the best range through walls, which is helpful for a PC some distance from the router, but it is shared with a lot of other household devices and cannot use the faster 5GHz channels. The 300Mbps rating is a theoretical maximum; in practice expect enough for HD streaming and normal web use, and we suggest keeping the PC within about 8 metres of the router. Customers with fibre broadband above 100Mbps or who play online games should look at our Wi-Fi 5, 6 or 7 cards instead.
Compatibility
Bluetooth is not included with this card. It works with any 802.11b/g/n router and, being a standard PCIe card, needs no motherboard headers, so it is a simple fit in any build. Because cards of this class are sourced from several suppliers, the listing is described by specification rather than model and an equivalent 2.4GHz N300 card may be supplied; Punch fits and tests the card in every build.
