The Palit StormX is the compact version of the GeForce GTX 1660 Ti, built on NVIDIA’s Turing architecture with performance in the region of the older GTX 1070. At just 168mm long it is one of the few cards of its class that fits mini-ITX cases, and it needs only a single 8-pin power lead and a 450W supply. It suits budget and compact gaming builds that play current titles at 1080p on medium to high settings, and older systems being upgraded from integrated graphics or a much older card.
Performance
The card carries 1536 CUDA cores at a 1500MHz base clock and 1770MHz boost clock, with 6GB of GDDR6 memory on a 192-bit bus running at 12Gbps for 288GB/s of bandwidth. Turing brought concurrent floating-point and integer execution and adaptive shading to the GTX line, which is why the 1660 Ti is a good deal quicker than the GTX 1060 it replaced. It supports DirectX 12 with feature level 12_1 and OpenGL 4.6.
Connectivity
Three outputs cover modern and older monitors alike: one DisplayPort 1.4a, one HDMI 2.0b and one dual-link DVI-D, so a legacy DVI monitor can be used without an adapter. Up to three displays can be driven at once, with a maximum digital resolution of 7680 x 4320 at 60Hz.
Cooling and noise
A single 90mm fan over a heat pipe and aluminium fin cooler keeps the 120W card within its thermal limits, and the fan stays quiet at desktop loads. The card is not hash-rate limited.
Compatibility
The board measures 168 x 122 x 40mm and occupies two slots, uses a PCIe 3.0 x16 interface and works in any PCIe 3.0 or 4.0 slot. Palit recommends a minimum 450W system power supply with one 8-pin PCIe connector. Punch can fit it in a new compact build.
