The announcement at Computex of Intel’s Basin Falls platform, with its X299 chipset and Core X-Series processors, was not a surprise. However, what was a surprise was the announcement at E3 in early June that the processors would release this month. So here you have it, access to 4, 6, 8, and 10 core processors available from Monday the 26th June.
Intel Core X-Series features
Identifies the two fastest cores on the processor die to provide improved single threaded performance on X-series processors. The driver provided along with the feature allows end users to direct workloads to the fastest core by setting priority to preferred applications.
Dynamically increases the processor’s frequency, as needed, by taking advantage of thermal and power headroom when operating below specified limits.
Delivers two processing threads per physical core. Highly threaded applications can get more work done in parallel, completing tasks sooner.
